Helen Smith
Visiting Production Supervisor

Philippa is a stage manager, theatre maker and producer whose work is rooted in a longstanding passion for new writing, creative collaboration and interdisciplinary practice. After graduating from Glasgow University, she began her career as an administrator at Playwrights’ Studio, Scotland, supporting emerging writers and gaining early insight into the development of new work. She then moved to London, working with Julie’s Bicycle, Actors Touring Company and Greenwich Theatre, where she expanded her skills across arts administration, touring and sustainable creative practice.
In 2014, Philippa became Project Coordinator for Nutkhut, a British South Asian performing arts organisation, supporting its portfolio of work and large-scale outdoor events. Alongside this, she co-founded View From Here Theatre and, in association with Theatre503, delivered several festivals of new writing. She later transitioned into freelance stage management.
Philippa thrives on working directly with artists, directors and creative teams, championing ideas from early R&D through to full production. She has varied experience across small-scale and mid-scale theatre, festivals and regional touring.
Her practice spans stage management, theatre-making and producing, with a strong focus on collaborative development and supporting new work in both traditional and non-traditional performance settings.
