Children and young people

The College offers a nurturing and creative space for young people to explore and develop their individual talents and skills. We empower them to fulfil their potential and take the next step in their creative journey, whatever that might be.

We’re committed to supporting young people across Wales to take their next steps into higher education, while helping more communities enjoy and take part in music for years to come.

‘One of the College’s most vital roles in Wales is developing artistic talent in young people, extending opportunity, diversity and access. These free, regular engagement events offer opportunities to experience live music and performance, signposting pathways for further development, and nurturing creative ambition.’
Kevin PriceDirector of Open RWCMD

We believe music is for everyone. Our free instrument days give young musicians the chance to explore their instrument and create music in a collaborative, hands-on workshop environment.

From taster sessions to workshops with world-class artists, the sessions provide experience and inspiration for all levels, building their motivation and confidence.

Our courses and masterclasses offer creative young people a real insight into the wider 'backstage' industries, and the drama school training that supports that. Industry professionals deliver specialist classes in skills including lighting, sound, stage management, prop making, costume and set design.
