Rob has worked across stage and production management in major producing theatres in the UK. He has held roles including Assistant Stage Manager, Deputy Stage Manager and Company Stage Manager at the Sherman Theatre, Cardiff, and later worked as Technical Stage Manager at the Bush Theatre, London, before becoming Production Manager.
He went on to join the Royal Opera House as a Project Leader, working across both Royal Opera and Royal Ballet productions. His responsibilities included leading lighting teams, delivering re-lights for repertory productions, and supporting the build and realisation of new work in collaboration with production departments.
At the National Theatre, Rob worked as Head of Lighting in the Cottesloe Theatre and Technical Manager of The Shed, as well as contributing to the refurbishment of the Cottesloe Theatre, which reopened as the Dorfman. After this, he worked as a freelance Production Manager before moving into a full-time role at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama.
Rob has extensive experience across lighting, technical production, construction, production management and health and safety in large-scale theatre environments.
His work spans repertory theatre, new writing, opera and ballet, with a strong focus on technical leadership, production delivery and collaborative working across creative and technical teams.
Rob has worked with a wide range of leading theatre practitioners across the industry.
Lighting designers include Paule Constable, Mark Henderson, Neil Austin, Bruno Poet, Howard Harrison, Jon Clark and Mimi Jordan Sherin. Directors include Sir Peter Hall, Richard Eyre, Marianne Elliott, Rufus Norris, Jeremy Herrin, Jonathan Miller, Katie Mitchell and Rupert Goold. Set designers include Bunny Christie, Vicki Mortimer, Rae Smith, Es Devlin and Miriam Buether.
