Garrin Clarke is a freelance Production/Stage Manager and Lighting Designer specialising in accessible and inclusive theatre. He works across a wide range of live performance contexts, supporting the delivery of ambitious and technically complex productions.
Alongside his production work, Garrin is a lighting designer whose practice focuses on storytelling through bold and dynamic visual design. His credits include Choo Choo!, which received a Fringe First Award and the Mental Health Foundation Fringe Award at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
As a disabled creative practitioner, Garrin is committed to developing safe and inclusive working environments, embedding accessibility into rehearsal processes, production planning and performance.
Garrin’s expertise includes stage and production management, lighting design, and the delivery of technically ambitious live performance. He specialises in inclusive working practices and accessible production processes.
His education work focuses on preparing students for professional production environments, with an emphasis on collaboration, communication and creative problem solving. He encourages students to build confidence in both technical and interpersonal skills, while embedding accessibility and inclusivity into their practice.
Garrin has worked on a range of innovative, technologically advanced productions and designed lighting for award-winning work, including Choo Choo! — recipient of a Fringe First Award and the Mental Health Foundation Fringe Award at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
He was a member of the Freelance Taskforce, established during the COVID-19 pandemic to advocate for freelance workers’ rights, and a founding member of Cultural Freelancers Wales. He has also served as a committee member for Equity and is currently a board member of the Stage Management Association.
