Coronavirus Update – 28 September 2020
Cardiff was placed under a local Coronavirus lockdown on 27 September. You can find out more about the local restrictions here.
Staff and students should continue to follow the safety guidelines on site while continuing with the academic provision we have as planned, and carefully observe Welsh Government and Public Health Wales guidelines outside of the College. We are keeping students informed about the implications for living in Cardiff.
The conditions we have put in place for the start of term, with safety as a priority and through a blended learning approach, allow the College to continue to operate in the ways we have described for the start of the academic year. There are no plans to close the College buildings and scheduled activity will continue.
Travel to College for staff and students is considered a reasonable justification for travel. Those living outside Cardiff, both students and staff, are still able to attend College. Public transport is continuing as normal.
Coronavirus Update – 4 August 2020
We are preparing our buildings for a safe reopening for students and staff in September. The health and wellbeing of all of our community is our top priority and so we have introduced sensible protective measures that will ensure we are able to keep everyone safe, while being able to offer an exciting blended learning model for all our students. Our plans have been fully risk assessed and comply with the relevant advice of the Welsh and UK Governments.
These measures mean that we will be operating at a reduced capacity, so will be running a blended learning curriculum for the Autumn, for both the senior College and Pre-College (Junior Conservatoire and Young Actors Studio), with some activities taking place face-to-face and others in a digital learning environment. Learning on campus will be prioritised for:
- face-to-face activities that cannot be delivered online, or that are the most challenging to deliver online
- teaching activities that maximise learning when delivered face-to-face
- performance activity that requires the larger spaces and involve final year undergraduates and MA students
Although the College will remain closed to the public for at least the early part of the Autumn, we have been planning a digital public programme and details of this will be published in September.
Most of our staff will continue to work from home and can be contacted via their direct email address.
