Stage Management and Technical Theatre: Stories

Sarah was awarded an RWCMD Honorary Fellowship in recognition of her ongoing and generous support of the College, and her championing of the next generation of stage managers, designers and creatives, with a particular focus on supporting women.

Design for Performance and Stage Management students were invited to Prague to work on the 2023 Prague Quadrennial, the world’s largest festival of design and performance. Stage Manager Johanna Bunyan told us more:

With breathtaking landscapes and more castles per square mile than anywhere in the world, Wales has always been a favourite with film producers looking for epic outdoor locations.

If you live in Cardiff it’s not unusual to see an ambulance from Holby City Hospital parked down the next road, a Cyberman marching down the high street, or a car park full of dressing room trailers and catering vans.

The College’s Richard Burton Company brings together its Drama departments, with final year Acting students working alongside Design for Performance, Stage Management & Technical Theatre students, with sets made by our Scenic Construction students.

Giving our old kit a new lease of life, the College has donated some of its technical gear to local theatre company, Tin Shed Theatre Co.
