Schools and colleges

Working with over 100 schools, colleges, community organisations and charities each year, we deliver a diverse range of bespoke workshops, performances and curriculum-based projects for children and young people.

Workshops, performances and curriculum based projects

To ensure participation by all, regardless of background, workshops are delivered free of charge.

In drama, we aim to build young people’s self-confidence, social skills and creativity in a safe and supportive environment. All our staff are professional actors, directors or industry specialists.

In music, we showcase a range of styles from classical to jazz and music theatre, and often involve our talented undergraduate and postgraduate students who are developing professional outreach skills as part of their studies.

Each year we deliver a range of bespoke workshops for schools, tailored as much as possible to the needs of particular pupil groups.

To enquire about this or any outreach activity, contact 029 2039 1430 or email outreach@rwcmd.ac.uk.

Education resources

Our educational pack for teachers features exclusive interviews with key members of the cast and creative team from our recent production of William Shakespeare's ‘Macbeth’.

Education consultation groups

We work closely with consultation groups in order to understand how we can support greater diversity of students and the public access to the College. The groups meets physically or online to discuss ideas and give feedback on initiatives at RWCMD. These groups also often get to enjoy our live performances as part of the work that takes place.

If you’d like to know more about these groups, or would like to join one, please contact Community Engagement Partner, Guy O' Donnell

School and College visits to RWCMD

As part of our commitment to work with schools to widen access to the College, we may be able to arrange for visits to the College. We also may be able to visit your school to deliver a range of talks and attend events there (based on some geographical restrictions), or arrange an online Q&A session with one of our tutors.

'The children were so excited walking back to school. They truly felt the experience was like a museum being brought to life.

It was so engaging and educational but at a perfect pace where the children were able to follow the story.

I’d just like to pass on our gratitude and appreciation, it really was fantastic and something the children will never forget.'

School performances

We offer a number of performances specifically for school groups. These performances are in the day giving you plenty of time to watch the performance and get back to school within a normal school schedule.
