Atmospheres 2025: My Lifelong Prisoner

An opera based on the writings of the artist Liu Xia and her Nobel Prize-Winning partner, the activist Liu Xiaobo. Xiaobo and Xia faced years of separation during Xiaobo’s political imprisonment. ‘Transfiguring distance’ and ‘entrusting life to love beyond the limits of distance’, Xia and Xiaobo fought for love, dignity, and freedom in the face of oppression and enforced separation.

John Ireland Prize

It was in the field of chamber music and song that John Ireland first made his name as a composer, and these remained the genres in which he was most at home throughout his career. The college is delighted to welcome back the John Ireland Prize, giving our students the opportunity to collaborate in performances of the music of this quintessential chamber master, culminating in a public final for both ensemble and vocal performers.

Sir Ian Stoutzker Prize Final

Sir Ian Stoutzker generously contributed towards the building of the college’s concert hall and donated an annual prize for our most outstanding music student, to be awarded by competition.
