About
"Virtuosic brilliance with a wave to the wild side" is how The Arts Desk describes this young Latvian violinist. Roberts Balanas, who made his Wigmore Hall solo debut at the age of 16, has developed a huge following on social media for his seamless melding of classical and rock, drawing attention from the likes of Elton John and Pink Floyd. And this programme will be no different! He brings together Steve Reich and Arvo Pärt, with his signature arrangements of Billie Elish and Sufjan Stevens to compliment. In a special arrangement with RWCMD Strings Ensemble, Balanas marks 50 years since the release of Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody (which was famously recorded at Rockfield Studios in Monmouth, Wales).
