Connecting with communities is a central part of the RWCMD ethos. Drawing on the talents and creativity of our students, we develop new work with a wide range of community partners.
Ramps Cymru
The Royal Welsh College is proud to be a partner of Ramps Cymru, a new partnership bringing together a collaboration of mainstream Welsh theatre companies.
Ramps Cymru’s aim is to create meaningful and sustainable change, improving the representation of disabled people (including Deaf, neurodivergent and learning-disabled people) across Wales’ mainstream theatre sector.

‘We want to use this project as a catalyst to make long-lasting change, harnessing this creative energy to make a real difference.
For example, the College’s recent BSL integrated production of ‘A Christmas Carol’, an inclusive work that not only taught the actors new skill sets, but also brought in a new audience to the Royal Welsh College.’
What's next?
This first stage of change for Ramps Cymru includes audits of each partner organisation, sector conversations, training across partner organisations, and modelling details for the next five years of a change programme.
Led by the Director for Change, our fellow partners are Theatr Clwyd, Sherman Theatre, Pontio Arts, and The Torch Theatre.
