Short Biography

Mirouslava Yordanova was born in Sofia, Bulgaria, and now lives in Cardiff. She studied at the National School of Music in Sofia and completed a vocal degree at the National Music Academy. A prize-winner in several major competitions, she represented Bulgaria in the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World Competition in 2001.

With an international career as an opera soloist, Mirouslava has performed with leading companies including the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Opéra National de Paris, Monte Carlo Opera, and the Sofia National Opera. Equally at home on the concert platform, she has given recitals throughout Europe and appeared for several seasons at the Buxton International Festival.

Expertise

Mirouslava Yordanova brings extensive international experience as a performer into her teaching. She has sung a wide range of bel canto roles, as well as all the major Verdi mezzo-soprano parts, and her repertoire spans from Baroque to contemporary music.

Praised for her even, lustrous tone and vocal flexibility, she focuses on healthy technique, stylistic interpretation, and dramatic expression. Her strong knowledge of repertoire and languages—especially Italian and Russian—enables her to offer detailed guidance on diction, phrasing, and character work.

Mirouslava regularly gives masterclasses and mentors young singers in preparation for roles, auditions, and competitions.

Notable Achievements

Alongside her performing career, Mirouslava is a passionate educator. Since 2022, she has taught voice at Cardiff University, and in 2024, she was appointed vocal teacher and opera tutor at RWCMD. She also regularly serves as a juror in international vocal competitions.

Her discography includes two CDs of rare cantatas by G.B. Sammartini, released on the NAXOS label.
