Gareth Roberts

Gareth Roberts is a jazz trombonist, composer and teacher based in Cardiff. Since graduating from RWCMD in 2005 with a PG Dip in jazz performance Gareth has worked professionally as a jazz musician, composer, and music teacher.

The Gareth Roberts Quintet has released two critically acclaimed albums of original compositions; one of these albums won a Jazz Services UK award.

In 2013 Gareth was awarded the Jazz4Jed bursary which enabled him to study Big Band arranging and composition. He went on to write four original big band compositions for the Capital City Jazz Orchestra, of whom he is a founder member. Two of these pieces have won composition prizes at the National Eisteddfod of Wales.

Gareth has gone on to write many more original compositions for Jazz Orchestra. Three of these have recently been published by Warwick Music.
