Brian Weir

Job Role: Director of Student Services

Director of Academic Administration and Student Experience, Brian Weir is an undergraduate (French Horn) and postgraduate (Orchestral Conducting) alumnus of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Following a year serving as the Students’ Union President (1999-2000), he was initially appointed to a newly created position of Student Services Manager. Today, Brian’s role encompasses all elements of the student journey - from recruitment and admissions to central administration, safeguarding and student services, learner resources support, student voice and casework, quality assurance and enhancement and curriculum validation.

A member of the Senior Leadership Team, Brian is chair of the College’s Quality Assurance Committee and successfully oversaw a review of RWCMD by MusiQuE (the Quality Assurance Agency of the Association of European Conservatoires) in 2021. He is an experienced board member, previously serving on the boards of the National Children’s Orchestra and Music in Hospitals. He is currently a Trustee of the Arts Active Trust and Chair of Governors of his local primary school.
