From the writers of Hairspray comes John Waters’ cult classic rebellion, bursting onto the stage with guitar riffs, bad behaviour and deliciously twisted 1950s satire. 

Taking centre stage, RWCMD Big Band perform hits from two of the most inspirational American jazz voices of the 20th century – Billie ‘Lady Day’ Holiday and the Queen of Bebop, Sarah Vaughan.

From the celebratory orchestral firework, Shostakovich’s Festive Overture, to one of his greatest symphonies, Symphony No. 10, BBC National Orchestra of Wales and Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama musicians come together to present two musical masterpieces. Portraying anguish and anger alongside poignancy and jubilee these pieces, which premiered in the years following Stalin’s death, capture a moment in time.
