About
Join Welsh National Opera Orchestra this October for a glorious concert blending wonderful music and song. The celebrated soprano Elizabeth Llewellyn joins WNO Orchestra to sing Wagner’s romantic song cycle, Wesendonck Lieder, inspired by five poems reflecting forbidden love and longing.
At the podium, the compelling young Czech, Jiří Habart, will conduct a programme that includes Die Ruinen von Athen, a series of dramatic incidental music by Beethoven which includes the famous, rousing Turkish March. This is followed by Haydn’s bold and dramatic orchestral prelude, the overture from Die Schöpfung, evoking the disorder and chaos foreshadowing the grandeur of The Creation.
The concert concludes with Dvořák’s joyful Symphony No 8 which bursts with delight and lyrical warmth - an exuberant celebration of nature and Bohemian spirit, blending rich melodies with folk themes, vibrant orchestration and rhythmic vitality.
