Sinfonia Cymru and Sidiki Dembélé: Yiriba

New West African tunes combined with Western classical music and folk music from Wales and the world.

Sinfonia Cymru are joined by celebrated Ivorian drummer and multi-instrumentalist Sidiki Dembélé and musicians from his ensemble, Percussion d’Abobo. Together they’ll present a thrilling concert with a rich mix of styles in exciting and unexpected ways.

Yiriba means ‘mighty tree’, referencing the wood used to make the instruments that Sidiki’s ensemble play. Building on previous collaborations between Sinfonia Cymru and Sidiki, it is a concert that will combine moments of deep reflection with infectious rhythms to have people on their feet.
