About

Originally commissioned by Shakespeare’s Globe, Morgan Lloyd Malcolm’s witty play focuses on the extraordinary life of Emilia Bassano. This 17th century radical feminist caused a stir with her subversive poetry – the messages of which were hidden in religious poems to get past the censors – but her story has been lost to history, unlike her famous male contemporaries Shakespeare and Marlowe. Join our all-female cast for a lively night at the theatre and learn about the “Dark Lady” of Shakespeare’s Sonnets. Directed by Patricia Logue of the award-winning The Women of Llanrumney.
