Handel’s Alcina is set on an enchanted island where Ruggiero lives under the sorceress Alcina’s spell, while his fiancée Bradamante arrives in disguise to rescue him. As misunderstandings spread, Alcina’s power begins to fail. Premiered in London in 1735, it features some of Handel’s most famous arias, celebrated for their beauty and expressive power. Don't miss the David Seligman Opera School perform with full orchestra this summer.
Sung in Italian with surtitles.
Composer George Frideric Handel
Director Sophie Gilpin
Conductor James Southall
