Young People's Production Arts

Young People’s Production Arts offers opportunities to explore Technical Theatre, Stage Management and Design, for young people aged 11-18.

Our courses and masterclasses give creative young people the opportunity to gain a real insight into drama school training and the wider ‘backstage’ industries. Specialist classes are delivered by a variety of professionals, in skills including lighting, sound, stage management, prop making, costume and set design.

The World of Stage Management

Stage Management is an exciting career that can take you from theatres, to film, from fashion shows to festivals and everything in between! Join a discussion with professional Stage Manager, Ailsa Bonner (Amelie Watermill Theatre, Shakespeare’s Globe), to find out more about how to get started.

Props are a vital part of any performance, learn from professional Stage Manager, Emily Behauge, about the people responsible for making and sourcing props on a production and find out how to make props yourself!

A Career in Costume

Got a passion for costume? Join professional Costume Maker, Hazel Jewkes (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, Downton Abbey, His Dark Materials), on the huge number of roles available in ‘wardrobe’ and share a ‘day in the life’ on set. In conjunction with Bad Wolf and Screen Alliance Wales.

Applying to Drama School Q&A

Join RWCMD Director of Drama, Sean Crowley, and Head of Stage Management, Ian Evans, in a Q&A about applying for Drama School, studying at RWCMD and pathways to industry. With hints and tips on interview technique and portfolio building.
