Raphael Hitchen

Raphael is a clarinettist currently studying at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff.

An emerging classical soloist and chamber musician, he enjoys exploring the solo clarinet repertoire, from well-known classical works to newly commissioned contemporary pieces. Raphael was a finalist in the 2025 RWCMD Concerto Competition, performing Weber’s Clarinet Concerto No.2, and is currently competing in the 2026 Sir Ian Stoutzker Prize for outstanding solo performance.

Alongside solo work, he regularly performs chamber music in a variety of ensembles including clarinet trios, clarinet with string quartet, and wind quintets. Raphael is available for concerts, recitals, weddings, recordings and special events.
