Welsh-Irish baritone John Rhys Liddington has been a member of various prestigious youth programmes including Harry Christopher's Genesis 16 and the Glyndebourne Academy. He has worked with a wide array of ensembles and artists including Sir Bryn Terfel, Rachel Podger's Brecon Baroque, the WNO chorus and WNO Youth Opera Company, and the BBC NOW Chorus as a soloist. He has performed various opera roles ranging from Handel, Mozart, Rossini, Puccini and Britten as well as workshopping new contemporary works. In May 2025 he won RWCMD's Dorothy Davies Ingram Prize. In June 2025 he competed in RWCMD's prestigious Sir Ian Stoutzker prize final as well as Wales's Dunraven Young Singer of the Year final, and came runner up in the Morriston Orpheus singing competition. In August 2025, he placed 2nd in the Towyn Roberts Scholarship competition. John is currently studying in RWCMD's David Seligman Opera School with the support of the Sir Geraint Evans Centenary Scholarship and the Jon Award.
