Biography

Catherine Milledge grew up in South Wales. After graduating with a first in Classics and English from Jesus College, Oxford she joined the piano accompaniment course at Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where she received a distinction for her Post-graduate Diploma before going on to obtain a MMus degree in solo piano.

Expertise

Since then Catherine has performed regularly as an accompanist of both singers and instrumentalists and in larger chamber groups. She has given recitals at Wigmore Hall, Bridgewater Hall and the Purcell Room as well as for music societies and other venues around the country and outside the UK. Recordings include CDs with bassoonist Meyrick Alexander and saxophonist Amy Dickson and she has broadcast live on BBC Radio 3.

Now living in Cardiff, Catherine teaches at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and at Cardiff University, and undertakes freelance work for Welsh National Opera, BBC National Orchestra of Wales and the Wales International Academy of Voice. Since moving back to Wales she has performed regularly at MusicFest in Aberystwyth as well as at the Gregynog, Presteigne and Vale of Glamorgan festivals. She has also given frequent recitals at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama as an accompanist, chamber musician and concerto soloist. Previous and upcoming engagements include concerts with her piano duo partner and RWCMD colleague Roger Owens.

Notable Achievements

Catherine has won the Birmingham Accompanist of the Year award as well as prizes for accompaniment in the Wigmore Hall International Song Competition and the Royal Overseas League.
