RWCMD Big Band: Gordon Goodwin’s Big Phat Band

With flavours of 1930/40s big band style and a side of funk and jazz fusion, swing into the weekend with the RWCMD Big Band and Ceri Rees as they invite you to taste the deliciously groovy bandleading prowess of the late Gordon Goodwin and his Grammy-winning Big Phat Band.

Goodwin was a virtuoso saxophonist and pianist, working with some of the greats including Ray Charles, Christina Aguilera, Johnny Mathis, John Williams, Natalie Cole, David Foster, Sarah Vaughan and Quincy Jones, and there was no limit to his compositional and arranging skill which also included writing for films such as Disney Pixar's The Incredibles and The Lion King.
