Student wellbeing and safety
We know that College life can be demanding and bring challenges. Whether you need someone to talk to, advice or practical support, it’s important that you know where to turn and feel confident about reaching out
Information Hub (First floor library): The Information Hub is your first point of contact for questions and guidance about any aspect of your student experience. If you’re not sure where to go or who to ask, you can always start here. The InfoHub is available in person from 10:00am to 4.00pm each weekday and you can also email them via infohub@rwcmd.ac.uk
Student Services (Ground floor by the SU Shop) – this welcoming and specialist team provide support and advice for a range of services including mental health and learning support needs. The team can also signpost you to charities, organisations and NHS services. To find out more, speak to the InfoHub or email studentservices@rwcmd.ac.uk. Out of hours support information is also available.
Counselling Service – our counsellors provide a confidential safe space in which to discuss any issues or problems you may have and to explore the choices and options available to you. You can self-refer to this service by emailing counselling@rwcmd.ac.uk and during weekdays you should receive a response within 24 hours. Report and Support
Our confidential reporting system, Report and Support, continues to provide you with a simple and accessible way to raise concerns at any time. While you can choose to report anonymously, and all submissions are read, named reports will mean we are able to give you a response within 24 working hours. The reply will include an offer to meet with a trained member of staff to talk about your report and what you would like to do next. With anonymous reports, we are unable to get back to you.
Our policies and procedures - the College’s formal policies and procedures underpin our commitment to fostering a culture where inappropriate behaviour, bullying, harassment, discrimination and victimisation are not tolerated. They are publicly available, and can be found here
We jointly state again the College’s and Students’ Union’s commitment to RWCMD being a supportive environment free of bullying, discrimination and harassment of any kind. The commitment is printed on posters around the College, and you can also find a copy of this Respect Statement here
And of course, you can always talk to your tutors, head of department, or come and speak to us directly.
