Design for Performance
Students on the Design for Performance Study Abroad Programme will be fully immersed in the specialist areas of set design or costume (autumn or spring term) or puppetry (summer term).
Modules
Each 13-week programme comprises 12 weeks of specialist tutoring including individual sessions and group classes, as well as an additional ‘Welcome Week’ at the start or a ‘Wrap-Up Week’ at end of programme.
Technical skills classes include scenic art, AutoCAD/Sketchup, Photoshop, mould making, prop making, model making or tailoring, pattern cutting, draping, millinery, corsetry, sewing techniques.
Production projects are as a member of the costume team or scenic arts and construction team working on one of the College’s Richard Burton Company drama productions.
Please note: A total 120 UK credits are allocated across a year of study. 40 UK credits are available to a Study Abroad student who successfully completes a term of study at the College.

English language requirements
Applicants who are non-native speakers of English are required to achieve IELTS 5.5 or equivalent, with no lower than 5.5 in any component.
Tuition fees for study abroad
The tuition fees* for 2024/25 academic year are £8,500 per term
*tuition fees to do not apply to reciprocal exchange arrangements (eg Erasmus + / Taith mobilities)

Supplemental Materials: All applicants for Design for Performance courses are required to submit a portfolio in support of their application. The portfolio can contain any aspects of your work that you wish the panel to see whilst considering your application. This can be anything from paintings, drawings, sketches, sculpture, costumes, models, model boxes, photos etc.
