Biography
Amanda Whiting is a harpist, composer and educator whose work spans contemporary jazz, improvisation and cross-genre collaboration.
Amanda teaches at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, supporting students to develop their creativity, improvisation, technique and individual artistic voice.
Expertise
Amanda is a jazz and recording session musician and the founder of Pedalsliders Books, through which she has published several books exploring jazz and harp.
Her compositions are included on Trinity College London and ABRSM harp syllabuses, and she teaches students internationally through Harp Column Studio.
Her experience as a performer, composer and session musician informs a teaching approach that combines technical development with creativity, listening and musical exploration.
Notable Achievements
Signed to First Word Records, Amanda has released critically acclaimed recordings and performed at leading venues and festivals in the UK and internationally. She has been nominated for Jazz FM Instrumentalist of the Year, and Cerys Matthews has described her as ‘an astonishing musical mind’.
