About
The Gala concert features Carlo Rizzi and Rebecca Evans in excerpts from Strauss’s final opera, Capriccio. The ravishing opening string sextet and the beautiful closing scene will be unified into a whole by the actor Samuel West reading a newly commissioned narration by Sir David Pountney, transporting us into the capricious world of parisian aristocracy.
Artistic directors David Adams and Alice Neary were thrilled to secure a commission from Welsh composer Huw Watkins - his String Trio will receive its world première alongside Ravel’s exquisite Introduction and Allegro.
