Postgraduate Diploma in Music
Entry Requirements
For performers, entry to the programme is by audition at which
they are expected to demonstrate a level of practical ability
appropriate to advanced professional training.
Composition and creative music technology applicants will be
required to submit work for discussion at interview.
For those wishing to study conducting, pianistic ability is
considered an advantage at the selection stage.
Normal minimum entrance qualifications also include a degree or
equivalent qualification, not necessarily in music.
Candidates with an exceptional level of practical ability may be
considered without the full range of formal qualifications.
Applicants for whom English is not a first language are required
to demonstrate a level of fluency equivalent to an overall score of
IELTS 5.5 or equivalent (with at
least 5.0 in all components of reading, writing, listening and
speaking).
Applicants who have scored less than IELTS 5.0 in any component
but have only missed this by 0.5 IELTS points or equivalent will be
required to complete the pre-sessional
English language course.
