When first staged in Dublin in 1907 JM Synge's comic masterpiece caused a riot!

In this riotous comedy, Christy Mahon walks in to a pub in a small village in County Mayo, Ireland, claiming to have killed his father in self-defence. Captivating the locals at first with his tale of bravery, suspicions soon become aroused as the tale gets more and more elaborate.
