Marged Hall – Harp

Harpist Marged Hall is a graduate of the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London, and holds an ABRSM Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music certificate. She is currently in her second year studying for her Masters at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama with Caryl Thomas. She participates in a number of different musical activities including solo recitals, chamber music, orchestral concerts, teaching and she enjoys providing music for a wide variety of events including weddings, corporate events and parties. She recently provided background music for the UEFA Champions League Dinner held in Caerphilly Castle.

As a busy working musician, she works extensively as a freelance orchestral harpist and soloist and has performed on many major stages including Carnegie Hall New York, and the Royal Albert Hall for the BBC Proms. Her concerto debut was at Barbican Hall, London and the City of London Music festival, and she has toured Italy with the Mozart Flute and Harp concerto. Marged has performed on numerous occasions for the Royal Family and has worked with Artists like Dame Evelyn Glennie.

She has had extensive and varied orchestral experiences starting at the age of 12 performing with the National Children’s Orchestra of Great Britain and continuing her orchestral training through working with the major British youth orchestras including The National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain and the National Youth Orchestra of Wales, and the Britten Pears Young Artists Orchestra, of which she was joint Principal harp and Principal harp respectively. These experiences gave her exposure of working with world renowned conductors such as Sir Neville Marriner, Sir Mark Elder and Antonio Pappano. She enjoys working freelance having worked with the Cardiff Sinfonietta and the Cinematic Sinfonia where the orchestra went on tour to Denmark performing concerts of Home Alone Live Cinema Broadcasts. Her work with the Cardiff Sinfonietta has frequently led to collaborations with Dennis O’Neill’s Welsh International Academy of Voice and showcase concerts held in the Wales Millennium Centre along with world class soloist such as Sir Bryn Terfel.

Marged has appeared in Concert with the BBC Symphony Orchestra of Wales, and has benefitted from the WNO side-by-side scheme through RWCMD. She has appeared in numerous Masterclasses with some of the worlds leading harpists including Marisa Robles, Isabelle Perrin, Sioned Williams (BBCSO) and Petra Van Der Heide. (Royal Concertgebouw)

Her solo work includes shared recitals with artists like Craig Ogden, fundraising concerts for Music in Hospitals and showcase concerts in the National Museum of Wales in Cardiff as well as numerous private recitals for various Livery companies of London and private clubs throughout South Wales. She enjoys playing solo and chamber music and has various instrumentalists with whom she enjoys performing.
