Gareth James & Joseph Cavalli-Price - Voice & Piano Duo

Welsh baritone Gareth James currently studies with renowned tenor, Timothy Richards, at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, where he has also had the opportunity to sing with the College’s Chamber Choir on numerous occasions, and for several REPCo events.

He was also awarded the ‘David Lloyd Owen Scholarship’ from Cardiff University.

Gareth was a member of Only Boys Aloud where he performed at several prestigious events, with guests including HRH Queen Elizabeth II, the Prime Minister, and alongside Bryn Terfel. Recently he sung with a small octet from Only Boys Aloud for the inaugural flight of Qatar Airways into Cardiff. He was also part of the Only Boys Aloud Academi from 2014-2016.

Other notable performances include working as a soloist in J. S. Bach’s St. Matthew Passion with the Aylesbury Choral Society, as bass soloist for Bridgend Tabernacl’s performance of Ethel Smythe’s Mass in D, and as a scholar with the BBC National Chorus of Wales. He has recently recorded with critically acclaimed composer/conductor, Edward Rhys-Harry, and is looking forward to further recordings later this year. Gareth was also part of the Royal Welsh College’s Chorus for their production of Mozart’s opera: Magic Flute, and is planning on taking part in further performances.

Described as ‘a rare breed of accompanist, exquisitely sympathetic to the needs of a soloist’, Joseph Cavalli-Price has received numerous awards for his accompanying including; the Layton Watkins Memorial Award, the Richard Harris Memorial Award, the Veal Award for Outstanding Musicianship, the St Elli Masonic Lodge Bursary Award and was a finalist in the Eleri Evans Memorial Award.

Joseph is the accompanist of Only Boys Aloud, Cor Caerdydd, Cardiff Arms Park Male Voice Choir, ReChoir and a key player with the Welsh Musical Theatre Orchestra. Joseph made his debut at the Royal Albert Hall in May 2018, as guest accompanist of the Festival of Massed Male Choirs. Other notable performances include working as the official accompanist for Wales’ Festival of Remembrance and as the official accompanist for Sir Karl Jenkins’ 75th Birthday Concert at St David’s Hall, Cardiff. A former Organ Scholar at the Metropolitan Cathedral of St David, Cardiff, Joseph had the honour of accompanying the choir in a performance for HRH The Prince of Wales.

Joseph undertakes regular wedding, corporate and charity work and has performed at events for organisations including; Barclays, Clifford Chance, Bloodwise, Childline, Cancer Research, The International Women’s Forum, Cardiff Blues, Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons, Bobath Cymru, European Society of Criminology, Royal Military Police and David Lloyd Clubs.
