Alaw Quartet

Alaw Quartet - String Quartet

Mark, Miranda, Nia and Angharad are all in their final and postgraduate years at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama and make up the string ensemble, Alaw Quartet.

They have been playing together for over two years and as the Alaw Quartet, they combine their artistic talents with a passion for outreach, inspiring audiences and encouraging live music across the UK. As individuals, members of the Alaw Quartet have worked with orchestras such as the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Welsh National Opera, British Sinfonietta and Cardiff Sinfonietta. Their aim is to bring top quality chamber music to both private events and areas where it is not readily accessible, in order to break down barriers to the enjoyment of classical music.

In their short career, the Alaw Quartet have already made their mark as an accomplished group, having won both the Albion Quartet Chamber Award and the Cardiff Violins Chamber Prize in 2018. The quartet has also received masterclasses from distinguished chamber groups, such as the Albion Quartet, Emerson Quartet and the Castalian Quartet. They look forward to playing for both private functions and outreach work within the Welsh community over the next year.
