Recorded Acting & Musical Theatre Auditions

If you have opted to submit an audition by recording for the BA Acting, MA Acting or MA Musical Theatre course in the first instance, please follow the below guidance. 

Please note that an offer of a place is rarely made on the strength of a recorded audition alone and applicants may be required to attend the College for a recall audition. 

Your recorded audition must be a video file and must clearly show your performance without any obstruction.  

Recorded auditions should be submitted as an MP4 file.

Applicants should note that the outcome of your audition is sent electronically via your UCAS Conservatoires Track and Email from the following email address: admissions@rwcmd.ac.uk 
 
Please ensure you include your full name and UCAS Conservatoires ID Number in any communication to us. 

Acting Auditions 

Candidates applying for BA (Hons) Acting or MA Acting for Stage, Screen & Radio should prepare either: 

There is no specific advantage in choosing one option over the other; it is up to the individual candidate. 

The speeches should be taken from published plays and each speech must last no longer than two minutes. Candidates should not perform their own material. Candidates may use an extract from a film or television screenplay/script for one of their pieces – in which case they should be able to provide (on request) a transcript detailing exactly from where the extract was taken. 

*The following speeches should NOT be used at audition:

Your name; the character's name; the title of the play and the playwright of the pieces you have chosen to present in your recording.

Musical Theatre Auditions
 

Those applying for the MA Musical Theatre should prepare: 

Please state the following on your recorded submission; 
Your name; the character's name; the title of the song & musical / play and the composer / lyricist / playwright of the pieces you have chosen to present in your recording.
