This autumn, Manchester Collective are back on the road with their new touring show for a socially-distanced world. It’s small scale repertoire that makes a big impact, featuring some of the most affecting, transcendental chamber music they know. Henryk Górecki’s second string quartet was written just 27 years ago, but already feels like an essential part of the quartet repertoire. It’s music that is by turn inspiring, hysterical and devastating. They’ve paired it with ‘Aloysius’ – Edmund Finnis’ first contribution to the quartet canon, a work of quiet beauty and poetry.
