Drama

We offer the very best training for actors, production artists and theatre makers for ages 7-20.

About the course

Our courses and workshops provide young people with a range of creative skills and the opportunity to gain a real insight into the training provided by drama schools.

We are very proud of our teachers, and our students benefit from their expertise in film, television and theatre. Our staff work in arts organisations including the National Theatre, the BBC, the Royal Shakespeare Company and a range of film and television companies.

Who are the courses aimed at?

  • Richard Burton Youth Company (RBYC) is the new flagship Youth Theatre and training programme at RWCMD for aspiring young creatives aged 17-20 years. Entry is by audition
  • RWCMD Young Actors – for young people aged 7 - 20 who have a passion for theatre and want to develop their drama skills and experience working alongside industry professionals. Open to all.
  • RWCMD Young Production Arts - Aimed at young people ages 11-18, our courses and masterclasses are designed to gain a real insight into drama school training and the wider ‘backstage’ industries. Specialist classes are delivered by a variety of professionals, in skills including lighting, sound, stage management, prop making, costume and set design.
'The lessons gave me an insight into what was expected of me, particularly audition technique. This helped me to work on my monologues and what was expected at auditions and also showed me how much fun drama school can be.'
