This broad programme encompasses training in a wide range of practical skills related to stage management, stagecraft and technical theatre. Tuition is also provided in specialist aspects of event management. The priority is to ensure that students are fully equipped to be able to respond to the diverse and ever-changing needs of the industry. A series of practical classes takes students through a variety of occupational scenarios from propping and prompting to mark-ups and rigging. Time is then split equally between classes and live production work. The college can offer opportunities for students to gain practical experience in a variety of production roles including ASM, DSM, technician, lighting designer, sound designer, video designer and stage manager. Course tutors also actively help and encourage students to undertake external work placements as a core part of the training.
