What's On
Harvest
By Richard Bean
Dickon Tyrrell Director
Tue 30 Mar - Sat 3 April
Set on the East Yorkshire Wolds this play traces the story of
British agriculture through four generations. Beginning in 1875
with 94 year old pig farmer Orlando Harrison taking up a wager with
Lord Primrose Agar, who under the influence of alcohol, agrees to
give 82 acres of his land to Orlando if he outlives his border
collie pup. Agar lost his bet. The play moves through the struggles
and dramas of war time life and ends in 2005 with an elderly
Harrison protecting his farm from burglars. In true Yorkshire
spirit, this family takes
everything that is thrown at it and shows a struggle to hang on to
the farming way of life they have worked so hard for.
