Performance or creative work relating to your Principal Study
forms the main focus throughout each year. Principal Study options
include all instrumental disciplines, voice, composition and
creative music technology. You may also specialise in historical
performance. Principal Study activities are organised by the
various specialist departments.
To support and broaden your departmental experiences, the course
offers a range of modules designed either to develop your all-round
musicianship, or to offer opportunities for intensive study in
subjects of particular interest. You will receive tuition in areas
such as performance practice, performing health, teaching skills,
contemporary techniques and aural training. The programme places
special emphasis on developing your skills and experience within
the professional world of music and you will be encouraged to
undertaken one or more of our highly regarded, assessed work
placements relating to a chosen area of professional activity,
including performance, studio work, events management,
broadcasting, teaching or community outreach.
