There are plenty of venues across the city, many of which have
close links with RWCMD.
Welsh National Opera
The Welsh National Opera (WNO) company has its home in
the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff Bay. It is the UK's largest
provider of touring opera, and recognised both in the UK and
internationally for its artistic excellence. 2011 will see the
company perform Die Fledermaus, Il
trovatore, Così fan tutte
and Turandot.
BBC National Orchestra of Wales
BBC National Orchestra (BBC NOW) and Chorus of
Wales are at the forefront of classical music, both within Wales
and the UK. As Orchestra-in-Residence at St David’s Hall, the
Orchestra present 10-12 concerts each year, in addition to the
performances around Wales and of course at their home, BBC
Hoddinott Hall in Cardiff Bay. BBC Hoddinott Hall provides a
great venue, intimate and modern, offering the opportunity to
perform a wide range of music, from newly commissioned world
premieres, to live recordings and BBC broadcasts
(including recording the Doctor Who soundtrack!).
St David's Hall
St David's Hall host regular classical music
performances and is rated in the top three for acoustic in
Europe. It is home to the Welsh Proms and BBC Singer of the World.
The Hall is also host to an impressive series of bands and
comedians. Acts already confirmed for 2011
include comedian, Jason Manford, London Symphony
Orchestra and Philharmonic Orchestra.
Wales Millennium Centre
The award-winning Wales Millennium Centre (WMC) is one of
Europe’s most exciting arts centre. With its' international
programme of opera and dance, musical theatre, comedy and
contemporary new work, the centre is recognised by many
visiting producers as the best theatre in the UK. As well as being
an iconic architectural landmark in the city, featured in cult TV
shows Torchwood, Doctor Who and Gavin and Stacey.
National Museum Cardiff
Situated opposite the College in the civic centre, the
Museum houses Wales’s national archaeology, art, geology and
natural history collections as well as major touring and temporary
exhibitions.
Cardiff Castle
With over 2000 years of history Cardiff Castle is one
of Wales' leading heritage attractions. Also, each year
the Castle is host to an array of outdoor events, including
the British Cheese Festivals, a right royal picnic and large scale
re-enactments.
Chapter Arts Centre
Chapter Arts Centre has an ever-changing programme of the
best performance, films and exhibitions from Wales and around the
world. Chapter is the flagship for the contemporary arts in Wales
and is one of the largest complexes of its kind in Europe.
Sherman Theatre
Sherman Cymru is currently undergoing a massive refurbishment
programme which will is due for completion in the autumn of
2012. With its two performances venues the theatre is
the platform for the work of Welsh and Wales-based writers in
Cardiff and is also host to top visiting companies, such as
the Royal Shakespeare Company and the National Theatre.
Café Jazz
Café JAZZ situated in the heart if the city and is one Cardiff's
leading jazz venues. The venue attracts some of the biggest names
in the UK scene plus the College's Jazz Department has a
regular residency during term time.

You can catch your favourite artists at the Cardiff
International Arena (CIA), Cardiff University Students Union and
the Millennium Stadium.
Each summer sees the city come alive with a full schedule of
events which collectively form the Cardiff Festival. Don't miss the
Admiral Cardiff Big Weekend, the UK's biggest free outdoor music
festival.
There is also a thriving small gigs scene with Cardiff meeting
the needs of most music fans, from classical and opera to jazz and
rock. Don't pass up the chance to visit Clwb Ifor Bach; it's been
the starting point of just about every great band to come from
Wales.
Cardiff has two cinemas located within the city and
the Atlantic Wharf leisure complex in Cardiff Bay has ten pin
bowling, multiplex cinema, and restaurants catering for most tastes
and budgets.
