The Team
Head of Theatre Design
Sean Crowley
Sean Crowley studied at Wimbledon School of Art and has since
worked across the design spectrum in film, opera, theatre and
television. He is now Wales’ most prolific theatre designer, having
designed over 100 productions for companies across Wales, the UK
and Europe. Sean has been Head of Design at RWCMD since 1999. He is
currently Chair of the Association of Theatre Design Courses in the
UK, and a member of the Linbury Prize committee. He is the UK
commissioner and Vice Chair for the Education Committee of the
Organisation of International Scenographers, Theatre Architects and
Technicians (OISTAT). In June 2007 Sean was Project Leader for the
Prague Quadrennial Scenofest – an international festival of design
and performance attracting over 30,000 visitors and with over 5000
active participants. Sean was made an Honorary Fellow of the
College in July 2007 and has been Director of Drama at RWCMD since
July 2008. In January of this year Sean was appointed as an
Associate Director at the Torch Theatre.
