MA Stage Management

NOTE: In 2012 there will be two intakes onto the MA Stage Management programme, one in January 2012 and another September 2012. From 2013 onwards the course will start in September of each year rather than January as stated in the current prospectus.

Key Features:

  • Taught element starting in September 2012 running until December of the following year (approximately 15 months)
  • Taught element accredited by the National Council for Drama Training
  • Management studies module covering planning, problem-solving, logistics, team working skills and career planning
  • Positions in the stage management team on up to four college productions
  • Up to two six-week placements with professional theatre companies such as The Almeida, The Watermill and Newbury theatres
  • Option to undertake a work placement in the college’s venue at the Edinburgh Fringe
  • Final part-time component involving the completion of a reflective journal based on your professional employment,  with support and mentoring from college tutors
  • Flexible, part-time MA ‘Top-Up’ option available for people with a postgraduate diploma in stage management or a recognised equivalent qualification
