Course Overview
One Year Full Time plus One Year Part Time
The MA Event Production is a new programme
which launched in February 2010 and is for those who are
interested in a career in event management as Production Managers,
Technical Managers, Site Managers and Stage Managers.
The programme is designed for individuals who already have some
experience in event production and who can show a proven commitment
to working and studying in this area. The training will provide you
with the skills and experience essential to becoming a skilled
practitioner in the field of live event production.
The first year is an intensive full time programme consisting of
taught modules and practical production work. The College’s
calendar encompasses 300 public performance events each year
including live events, orchestral concerts, dramas, opera and
musical theatre. As a student you will work on at least three of
the live events, these will include a trade show, a fashion show
and a series of summer balls and parties. Within this year you will
also undertake a six week industry placement which will be tailored
to suit your career aspirations.
In the second year you begin working on the second
part of the MA Event Production, the Professional Practice
Portfolio. This is a flexible, part time programme based within
industry.
The College will assist you in finding suitable professional
engagements. Practical and academic support and mentoring is
provided either onsite at the College or through distance learning
methods. This allows you to choose employment in any location
worldwide. During your professional placement you will construct a
reflective portfolio based on your experience. On completion the
portfolio will be submitted for the MA Event Production award.
