Course Overview

NOTE: From 2012, this programme will start in September rather than January as stated in the current prospectus.  The next intake will be in September 2012.

  • Training in the full range of skills required for employment in live events as a production manager, technical manager, site manager and stage manager
  • Tuition and supervision from a team of established industry practitioners

  • Practical training in event production methodologies including site management, crowd safety and the use of CAD for creating and developing site plans
  • Modules focussing on core skills required for event planning including budgets, costings and the creation of tenders
  • Series of lectures and seminars covering legal requirements including health and safety, risk assessments and site evacuation plans

  • Career preparation and planning sessions including an exploration of the legislative and financial issues relating to freelance work
  • Opportunities to gain first-hand and practical experience of major live events taking place in Cardiff including festivals, sporting events and pop concerts
  • Production roles on live events within the college’s varied programme
  • Assistance in finding a six-week work placement with a professional company or freelance industry practitioner
  • Final part-time component involving the completion of a reflective journal based on your professional employment  with support and mentoring from college tutors
