Dr John Cranmer BA Hons (York) MMus (Edin) PhD

Dr John Cranmer’s interests include music in 18th and 19th
century Britain, early keyboard instruments, opera, music theatre
and historically-informed performance. He has produced articles and
delivered conference papers on a wide range of topics related to
these interests. As a performer on early keyboard instruments, he
has given solo and chamber recitals throughout the UK. He is
currently working toward the publication of a major social and
economic history of music in Georgian Edinburgh - a wide-ranging
study linking professional and amateur music-making, instrument
building, music publishing, teaching and composition

Zoë Smith MA (Oxon) ALCM
As an accompanist, Zoë Smith has worked extensively in the UK
and internationally with both singers and instrumentalists. A
graduate of Oxford University and the Royal Academy of Music, she
has developed strong links with Mexico, where she frequently
performs and teaches. She has received prizes in song accompaniment
and has also specialised in flute repertoire, working in
masterclasses and recitals with many leading flautists and
recording three CDs. She is a member of Altitude, a viola and piano
duo, with Philip Heyman, Principal Viola of WNO, and together they
are actively commissioning new works by Welsh composers.
