MMus Creative Music Technology
by Distance Learning
Course Overview
Two Year Programme
The programme is designed for active musicians who are currently
working within the music industry and are looking to develop their
skills further in order to advance their professional career.
This programme is delivered entirely on-line allowing you to
continue with your existing commitments. The flexibility of this
course means that consideration will be given to your personal
circumstances and the modular nature will enable you to choose
materials which match your area of interest.
The two year programme will equip you with the necessary skills
within current technologies coupled by practical techniques to
create a portfolio of new music using your computer music
workstation. Supportive study modules will provide you with a
working discipline, a sense of context and an aesthetic awareness
in relation to your own music and that of others. You will develop
confidence in embracing change, which is both inevitable and a
driving force in creative music technology.
You will have a designated tutor with whom you will have regular
one-to-one tuition with focusing on your creative projects. This
will be through either the exchange of music files and emails over
the internet or by face-to-face tuition with web conferencing.
Supporting study modules will be delivered through a combination of
recorded video files downloaded or streamed on demand, text or
interactive use of conferencing and forums. For many students,
using a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) will be a new experience
and an induction module is designed to familiarise students by
exploring its main features.
Throughout the course you will be encouraged to interact with
fellow students and with current on-campus students through,
project work, virtual classes and performances, maintaining the
conservatoire experience.
The course builds on the experience of the established and
successful on-campus MMus in Creative Music Technology but is
entirely new and will extend to musicians worldwide. So students
residing outside the UK who are seeking a Masters course in
creative music technology can develop their music and broaden their
range of activity with latest technology can also now fully engage
with this course without leaving home.
Graduates of this ground-breaking course can expect to develop
their creative music skills with the technology while also able to
continue with their normal day-to-day activities. This will help
them expand the scope of possibilities within their own chosen
careers.
