You may be able to apply for financial assistance from a variety
of educational charities and trusts. For further information,
contact the Educational
Grants Advisory Service, or obtain a copy of the Education
Grants Directory, published by the Directory of Social Change.
Professional and Career Development Loans are
bank loans that can be used to help pay for work related learning.
You can borrow between £300 and £10,000 to help support the cost of
up to two years of learning (or three years if it includes one
year’s relevant unpaid practical work). The Government will pay the
interest on the loan while you are learning and for one month
afterwards. The loan can be used to pay course fees or other costs
such as travel and living expenses. You can also use the loan to
supplement other forms of support such as grants or bursaries.
Further information on financial assistance to
support your learning you can visit www.direct.gov.uk/adultlearning.
Local authorities do not usually provide financial support for
students on postgraduate courses.
Fees and Funding (International Students)
Subject to approval by the Board of Directors, the total
programme fee for students from outside the EU starting the MA
Opera Performance programme in September 2012 will be £18,500.
UK authorities are unable to provide financial support for
students from outside the European Union. We recommend that you
contact the Ministry of Education or Education Department in your
own country for details of scholarship opportunities for students
wishing to study overseas. You can also contact your nearest
British Council office which will have details of British
scholarship schemes. You will find contact details on the British
Council's website at www.britishcouncil.org. The
Council for International Education also provides advice on finance
as well as visas and immigration on its website at www.ukcosa.org.uk.
