Claudia Wood - Soprano

Five years ago, Claudia left her previous career as a Police Officer and accepted an offer to study, with a scholarship, at Birmingham Conservatoire. After attaining Distinction in her Postgraduate Diploma, Claudia is now on the MMus Vocal Performance course at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, where she studies with Gail Pearson.

Operatic engagements have included ‘Nedda’ in I Pagliacci (in English), with Midland Opera Company (2016), and also in Italian during Festi’val de Musique Valois, Provence, France (2017). Claudia has performed the role of ‘Helena’ in Midsummer Night’s Dream with RWCMD as part of an Opera Scenes project. With Birmingham Conservatoire, Claudia created the role of Celia in Ava’s Wedding, an English Opera Premiere. Most recently, Claudia has been added to the Extra Chorus list for both The Royal Opera House and Oper Frankfurt.

On the concert platform, Claudia has featured as a soloist in a charity concert attended by HRH The Earl and Countess of Wessex, and on a separate occasion HRH Princess Alexandria. Claudia also teaches from her business Wylye Valley Music Studio, offering tuition in voice, piano and clarinet.
