Bone Appétit

Bone Appétit - Trombone Quartet

Bone Appétit is a trombone quartet from the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama in Cardiff, featuring Huw Evans, Jake Durham, Justin Campbell and Lloyd Pearce. The quartet often performs education and outreach concerts, introducing the trombone to audiences across South Wales and beyond. Since forming in 2011, the quartet has played many high profile concerts including graduation ceremonies at the University of South Wales, an appearance at Classic FM Live, and regular performances at the Millennium Stadium as resident musicians for the Welsh Rugby Union. Bone Appétit has also featured on a broadcast of Radio 3’s In Tune program, performing live at a show’s recording at the Hay Literary Festival.

With help from the College and in particular the Head of Brass Kevin Price, the quartet has been lucky to participate in master classes with both the internationally renowned trombone quartet Bones Apart, and the Mariinsky Ballet Brass Ensemble. As well as these masterclasses, the quartet regularly takes part in competitions within the College. They have twice become finalists in the Philip Jones Brass Ensemble Competition and most recently were put forward for the inter-departmental McGrenery Chamber Music Competition.

With both classical and contemporary music in their repertoire, the quartet can provide something for everyone in a variety of occasions and events.
