Ruth Jones (Acting, 1989)
Ruth is best known for co-scripting and starring in the
multi-award winning hit TV comedy Gavin and Stacey, which
won her a Best Female Comedy Newcomer award at the British Comedy
Awards in 2007. In 2009 she was awarded the prestigious Sian
Phillips Award by Bafta Cymru, which recognises Welsh men and
women’s outstanding achievements and their contribution in
enriching the film and television experience for audiences in Wales
and beyond.
She has also performed comedy roles in Little Britain,
Saxondale with Steve Coogan and cult hit Nighty
Night. In dramatic roles, she has appeared in series including
Torchwood, Little Dorrit, Tess of the
D’Urbervilles and The Street.
Her film work includes East is East (1999) and Very
Annie Mary (2001).
