Recent graduate Kimberley Nixon (acting 2007) is to follow up her recent screen success in Cranford, Angus, Thongs & Perfect Snogging and Wild Child with her professional theatre debut.

In the new theatre production of The Girl with the Pearl Earring, Kimberley will play the role made famous by Scarlett Johansson in the film version. Griet is the young servant girl, who allegedly inspires the 17th century painter Johannes Vermeer, to paint his masterpiece of the same name. Adrian Dunbar, famous for the BAFTA-nominated film Hear my Song, which he co-wrote, as well for appearances in My Left Foot, Cracker and The General will take the Colin Firth role of Vermeer.

The stage version of Tracey Chevalier’s best-selling novel will receive its world premiere this autumn at the Cambridge Arts Theatre where it will run from 11 to 20 September, ahead of a planned West End transfer.
