Students Perform for Prince Charles

Royal Welsh College students performed for Prince
Charles at his Welsh home to celebrate the College’s
60th Anniversary. The occasion also marked the Prince’s
own 60th birthday and coincidentally, the
60th wedding anniversary of David Seligman (who was
recently honoured by RWCMD with a fellowship) and his wife.

Fifteen students showcased their musical,
singing and acting talents for the Prince and a specially-invited
audience in the barn of his farmhouse in Carmarthenshire.

The Prince arrived to the sound of jazz piano,
performed by Chris Gilligan (BMUS Jazz, 2010) and was then welcomed
by a fanfare performed by our resident brass ensemble, Bute Brass.
Once settled in his barn where a performance space had been set up,
His Royal Highness was treated to a varied performance with
extracts from Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess, Shakespeare’s
Macbeth, comedy drama and stage combat sequences.
